 Okay, but cheaper options just as good Jun 21, 2010

I use a Plantronics 975 headset with Skype on my PC. I'd been using an Anycom USB500 Bluetooth miniadapter, but there was enough static to make me forgo the Bluetooth in favor of my (far) less comfortable wired headset. In hopes that a matching set of Plantronics devices would improve the situation, I tried the BUA-100.
In short, I got exactly the same performance as from the Anycom device -- no better, no worse. So I kept the Anycom device and would recommend the same course to others. (Though, in general, I'd set expectations low overall for Bluetooth headsets.)
In my brief experiments with the Plantronics device, two shortcomings were revealed. First, it's long and therefore not a good candidate for "permanent" installation on a mobile laptop. (The Anycom is tiny and remains in place all the time; no troubles yet.) Second, there's a little button that you have to press to pair the device, and it's devilishly hard to do. The instructions say to pinch it from above and below, as I recall -- that's definitely what I had to do to get it to depress adequately. Trouble with that is it meant I had to lift up the laptop so I could get to both sides of the little USB stick.

Works well with Plantronics Voyager 510 Mar 25, 2010

I bought the BUA-100 to work with my Plantronics Voyager 510 Bluetooth Headset. My company recently deployed Cisco IP Softphones. After doing a little research, I found that by combining the voyager 510 headset with this bluetooth dongle, I could use the call control button on the headset to answer and end calls just like a cell phone.
I read several reviews here from people that had tried to use regular bluetooth dongles to pair with their headsets, but none of them seemed completely happy with the result. I decided not to chance it and bought the BUA-100 even though it is somewhat pricey compared to other bluetooth adapters.
It does not work with Bluetooth devices other than plantronics headsets, so you are not getting a multi use bluetooth adapter in this, more like just a dongle to connect your headset to your pc.
The button on the dongle allows you to easily pair it with your headset. Just put your headset into pairing mode then push the button on the dongle. They will be paired in a second or two.
For range, it behaves as standard bluetooth. When I walk away from my pc, I can get about 15 feel or so before I hear a little static, which gets progressively worse the farther you go.
All in all I am very happy with the combination of this and the voyager 510 headset and would recommend it to others.

I bought the Voyager Pro Plus to use with my iPhone 3Gs - it works fine.
I thought it would be nice to pair it with my desktop running Win 7.
It would not work with any of my bluetooth dongles, so I searched the 'net, including here at Amazon, and got the impression that this BUA100 would do the trick - both made by Plantronics - right?
The going prices of $70-110 were a turnoff. But I found one used and cheap on ebay.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. The phone pairs with the dongle, but Windows 7 x64 saw it, but had a ! in Device Manager.
Fine, I'll give Plantronics support a shout right?
Well, their story response is that it is my computer's problem, and I should contact the manufacturer. No trouble shooting help, no guidance, just "its your problem."
They then had the arrogant audacity to send me a transcript saying "problem solved." Then, when I filled in the survey and said "bulls***", the tech emailed ("Bill") me to say, again, "its your problem." !!!
Searching the internet revealed many, many unsatisfied people with Plantronics attitude and lack of support.

Finally after buying 3 other brands of dongles from Amazon, this one works with Skype.
Hallelujah, it works with Win7 64-bit, and it works with XP 32 bit, but not with Ubuntu. I am still looking for a package that will work under Ubuntu.
The included CD with PerSonoCall software installs quickly and then Skype picks up the headset, and it functions flawlessly.
Do youself a favor, just pay the money......

I have bought and returned ANYCOME bluetooth USB Adapter due to its failure to connect to my Plantronics USB 510 headset. Even though there were a lots of good comment on ANYCOME bluetooth USB adapter, I found it personally to be near impossible to connect it to my plantronics headset. Finally I bought this adapter which is the same brand as my headset, and it worked so easily native.
