4good enough for the occasional user  Feb 05, 2009
By Jacob H "avid reader and tech junkie"
I only really need a punch tool very infrequently. I'm perfectly happy with this, but if I was using it every day, I wouldn't be.

The punch tool works well enough. The scissors are very high quality. Otherwise most of the kit feels kinda cheap for the price, the clip generally falls off the pack if you stick it in your toolbox or sit it down, and it can be hard to get tools out of the case in a hurry, especially if you put a sharpie in the marker hole. The included led light is ok in a pinch, but not good for that much. The only real gem in this thing is the data stripper, which is very well made and works like a charm on cat5 and similar UTP / STP cables. I got it on sale for a good price, I would not pay the normal Amazon price for it.

4Great idea, good execution, poor service from manufacturer  Dec 12, 2008
By J. Berger "geek, not nerd"
The good:
I selected the sure punch pro because my ancient MaBell (bellsouth) punchdown tool had died. Too many times it slipped from my hand and hit the floor because of the slick exterior. That is not an issue with the sure punch, the grippy exterior surface is both comfortable and functional.

The little light looks like a gimmick, but it actually locks onto the tool and is very handy in a pinch.

The grip pack itself is a great time save and the design keeps all your punchdown tools in the right place, even upside down.

The bad:
The metal belt clip falls off everytime I remove the pack. It's a painful oversight from an otherwise very good design for the pack. I spend time searching my toolbag for the clip everytime I need to use the pack.

The ugly:
The built-in hook tool broke on first use, it was defective from manufacturing. I don't really hold that against the maker, as things just break sometimes. But the ONLY repair option is to return the tool and wait for them to repair and replace. I was told about 2 weeks for the turn around. There is no advanced exchange option available, even if you offer to pay full retail for the replacement unit. At present I'm finishing up a project so I can't send the tool off for a two week vacation without a spare and the manufacturer has no alternative plan for service.

4Pretty good kit to take along.  Mar 12, 2008
By Nukedude "Travelling Techie"
This kit has helped keep needed tools close at hand. Just add an AA Maglite, I put an LED mod into mine, a spudger and you are set. Punchdown tool works very well and has additional items the more popular models lack. The scissors appear to be Klein but are marked Paladin. Cut very well and hold their edge. The Data SureStrip stripper works well on Cat5e and even on RG-58 coax. Black rubber type case hold thins securely. Sometimes it is hard to get the Sharpie in mine out. (Get one of these too for your kit. Cheaper than paying $5 more for that to be included.) Belt buckle is not the most secure when not actually attached to a belt, but once on your belt it will not fall off. Rotates so it won't get in the way while driving or seated. Recommend this for those who need a portable kit with must have tools or as a spare to their big tool box. Price is comparable with everyone else. And the color will be different than those blue and yellow units you see everywhere, so you will know who walked off with your tools of multiple techs are on site.

5Your Tools Always at Hand!  Sep 25, 2010
By Nasanaeru
With the exception of the scissors, all tools are held extremely tight -- even upside down...Very convenient.
I swapped the punch-down tool my leatherman -- good fit!
