Great product! BUT this version NOT DESIGNED to charge smartphones Sep 25, 2011
By L. Nigra ADAPTER: Probably the best, most clever AC prong travel adapter kit design I've ever used, but it has one quirk: That universal input plug is hard to insert the US 2 and 3-prong in. You have to bring it in at an angle to open the inside flaps.
USB Power: Excellent feature. However, it's hard to know this from the listing, but this version meets the USB 2.0 500ma minimum standard, and that IS NOT ADEQUATE for smartphones and iPads. This listing right now doesn't mention smartphones or iPads, just mobile phones, mp3 players, cameras, etc., so it's not false advertising, you're expected to figure it out. Not a very good advertising policy IMHO, but pretty much the norm. The seller SHOULD state that it's 500ma output so you can check for yourself if it meets or exceeds your device's charger current.
So, this is an absolutely great product for what it's intended to do.
WANT IT TO CHARGE YOUR SMARTPHONE? Search "Digipower travel adapter 1A" and find a seller who will deliver the newer version of this. Somewhere in the ad it should say something about the USB current being 1 amp. That may still not be adequate for some devices.

USB port does not work right May 21, 2010
By Steven G. I bought three of these units because they had everything I needed, a USB charger and an electric outlet.
The first one I forgot at the hotel, ok, my fault. The second one fried in London (only the USB port), while charging my iphone overnight The third one fried in Tanzania (the entire unit was black on the inside), while charging.. yes, my iphone overnight
I did get replacements for the two fried units from the manufacturer, but there are a few things that concerned me.
1) The device has a fuse and a spare, why did it not protect the unit 2) Is this a batch problem, or a design flow?? 3) Because it was each time with the iphone, is it just specific to the iphone, duration????
Two stars, one because of the issues I had with this unit, and one star for the prompt delivery of two alternative units. Hopefully they will last longer
Outside of that, the light that indicates what is charging works great and gives you an indication you are getting power.

Very useful. The USB port charger is a huge plus over other adapters Oct 14, 2010
By Bruce C Huang Just returned from a trip to Asia. This gadget was awesome. I was able to plug my computer charger into it, no problems. The separate USB2 charging station was a huge bonus, where my mini-notebook was short on USB ports. I was able to charge my iPod separately.

Good form factor Sep 16, 2009
By Benjamin Chen I like the fact that it has an extra fuse. Just was traveling to the Maldives, and had another brand that blew out my converter at the airport lounge of all places.

Versatile Converter Jan 07, 2010
By J. Vasilius I have been to 65 countries and have a bin full of converters. This one replaces them all! A compact and versatile little gadget with an amazing array of currency and plug options. Labels on the converter are much more useful than the usual chart. I will take this converter on all my travels!
