The headset arrived quickly and was exactly as described. Now I can more clearly hear 12-year-olds' mothers yelling at them in the background while I shoot them in the head.

This is exactly the same as the Headsets you would by at BestBuy for 20 bucks plus tax.
Except its half the price and there's no tax.....
'nuff said.....buy it already!

The mic that came with my 360 bit the dust and I opted for this as a replacement rather than one of the more expensive alternativeness. It works great; it sounds great; and if you treat these right, they last several years.

I bought this product from a third party seller (Direct Distributor), it was listed as new and current. However, it was a misrepresentation. The headset didn't arrive in retail packaging, but rather in a plastic bag. Additionally, the product is not the current or former generation headset. It was the original Xbox headset with mute and volume controls attaching directly to the controller - so not only is the color off, it's incompatible with Microsoft's chat pad and some third party controllers. I have no idea if it's capable of handling the new audio codecs.
I contacted Amazon about a refund and was told I had to contact the company that sold it to me and they have 3 days to respond and make it right. I've emailed them to determine what our next steps are for a refund or replacement. But buyer beware. Make sure you're OK with not receiving the current headset (as listed in the AISN and release date) before ordering from anyone other than Amazon.
I'm disappointed in both Amazon and the seller in this case.

The headset works great! It's used daily. Definitely not a quiet accessory of the Xbox system...I often think we have extra kids in the house when I hear the excited conversations! Glad I heard to buy this, so it was here when they opened the system Christmas morning, because it's such an important part of the whole experience!
