Does the job Jul 05, 2006
By DrZ I bought this Cobra telescopic antenna for my Cobra Roadtrip handheld CB. It performs better than the included mini-whip, but it is not as sturdy as I'd like it to be. It has two parts, the lower part with a coil, and the upper screw-on telescopic antenna. The lower part with the coil is covered with a plastic layer and it seems like the coil under it it hasn't been soldered carefully, so there is a sharp bump under the plastic which might get exposed after longer usage and standar tear and wear. Fully extended, it measures about 27 inches, compared to the 11.5" in its folded state. It attaches to the handheld using its BNC connector which works perfectly for the Cobra handheld, but if you are buying this for some other CB radio with standard antenna connector you will need to buy the adapter. Bottom line - it works, but it could have been designed smoother.

Good overall Jan 09, 2007
By David A. Johnson For the application I needed this antenna did well. Do not be confused by the term "long-range" thinking you will get a signal out 5-10 miles in all conditions. This is still a antenna for a hand-held unit. But it did well and I was able to send and receive over a distance of 2-4 miles under good conditions (relatively smooth land, good weather, etc). The only disappointing thing was the shipping the seller used. UPS messed up twice and sent the package back to the seller. It took me almost a month to receive it regular shipping. For the $11+ spent on shipping and handling I expect better.

Enhances performance, only one flaw... Jul 16, 2009
By Bull I purchased this antenna for use with the MIDLAND 75-822 40 Channel 2 Way Radio. This item is a good upgrade that I feel is worth the price. I do not know exact distances for transmitting and receiving with this antenna, but after switching to the Cobra HA-TA antenna I picked up weak signals clearly enough to understand on channels that had only given static with the included antenna just moments before. When using this antenna the audio was much clearer on received signals and I have been told my transmissions are coming through both "loud and clear" and "crystal clear".
Despite the wonderful performance of this antenna I only have one complaint about it. Before attaching it to the CB transceiver something felt like it was shifting around if you shook it lightly. I tightened the antenna where it screws into the base and it helped but did not fix the problem. Upon a closer inspection I noticed that something under the cover on the base part of the antenna appears to be slightly loose, allowing the antenna to feel like it is shifting just a hair in the base. Despite this one flaw the antenna is performing flawlessly and it will serve as a reminder to me to take care when handling this important and sensitive part of my CB radio.
I gave it four stars. Would have been five if not for the barely noticeable jiggle.
*****The Cobra HA-BNC CB Adapter mentioned in an earlier review is NOT needed to connect this antenna to the MIDLAND 75-822 40 Channel 2 Way Radio. They both have standard antenna connections and the adapter is for connecting an external antenna to the antenna connection, which is not needed for the Midland 75-822 because it includes a mobile adapter.*****

Great Antenna, Really works May 19, 2007

This Antenna will definatly boost the range of your handheld CB radio. I have the HH38WXST model, and it boosts it from 4 miles to 15 miles! If you want more range, try it out. It's worth the small amount of money, and makes a huge difference.

reasonable price for a good telescopic antenna Nov 18, 2008
By Radio Hobbyist This antenna works well. It is much more effective(transmitting and recieving) on my Midland 75-785 CB Handi-talkie than the stock "rubber duckie" that the radio came with. As with all "solid"(non-rubber duckie)antennas, be careful not to stress the mount on the radio when attaching and removing the collapsed antenna. Also, hold the antenna at its base when grabbing the top to extend or collapse the antenna. Try not to just hold the radio and pull or push the antenna. The antenna seems strong enough, but on any H-T radio the mount and it's internal attachment to the radio should be treated with respect.
