4Great headphones but one disappointing feature  Dec 28, 2007
By J. Levanon "jl"
Good service from the merchant - got the product as promised. I want to make sure that the 4 star is not a testimony of the merchant's service. the service was great. Charged the unit and started using right away. The headphones are very nice - sit tight on the head, fit very well and the sound quality is excellent. The headphones setup is easy and in 30 seconds I was enjoying my music from the iPod. Why not 5 stars? When using the headphones with my phone, I was surprised to discover that the headphones appear to be mono - i.e., you can hear the conversation only on your left side. Initially I thought it was a defect, so I called technical support. The immediate answer was that this is not a defect - its a feature. This is a tremendous let down. Firstly, this is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation that comes with the product (the tech rep admitted this). So Scosche basically withholds that information from you, which in the least is unethical, and in the worth case is probably illegal. Secondly, for the price charged for the headphones I would expect stereo for both music and phone. While I really like the stereo sound quality when playing music, I would not have purchased this product had I known the mono spec ahead of time.

3Fine for TV, not for CD-quality audio  Nov 18, 2007
By EMathews3
I got this unit for wireless, private audio when the baby is sleeping. For this, it works great on my TV, computer or stereo.

Bluetooth compatibility: my understanding is, not compatible with the Bluetooth in my Nokia 6315i cellphone. Did not try it with my Bluetooth- and audio-enabled PDA.

Wireless range distance: works only in the same room as the audio source (but then, my room's walls are stone).

Run time between recharges: I hoped to use it all day and then recharge overnight, but the headphones ran down in the evening. Maybe turning them off between uses would extend the time.

Sound quality: Fine for TV, not as good for serious music. In the frequency ranges, voice/midrange is great, treble/high end is fine, bass/low end is weak.

In comparison with my previous headphones (wired, Sony Walkman MDR-027), the Scosche is worse at keeping out room noise, less comfortable to wear, heavier, and not as good at delivering quality music. The weakness of low end/bass is a problem, and "aural fatigue" set in much sooner. Maybe this is because the audio signal is digitized for Bluetooth transmission? Any Analog to Digital and back conversion has the possibility of making the audio less listenable.

Bottom line: great product for convenience and versatility, but not so much for quality music listening.
