Controller of Skill Nov 18, 2009
By InkedGod As an online gamer it's a must that you have the right tool for the right job. So for me nothing works better than the microcon. With this nice little controller I'm able to perform all of my moves without hesitation. If your like me & you can't use the regular Xbox 360 controller then I highly recommend this product.

Good choice for small hands but could be nicer Jul 29, 2010
By Julian Perpetua I am an adult female with very small hands and gave myself tendinitis on the regular 360 controller. I bought the Microcon for its small size. It is indeed a much more comfortable size for small hands; they've made the bumpers easier to hit, and the vibration is still there. Performance has been fine so far, and in fact my Microcon doesn't have drifty analog sticks, while my 1st party controller actually does. However, since this is a 3rd party pad, you'll have to live with it being wired.
The most annoying aspect of this controller for me is that the analog sticks are not well rubberized like the original controller. Aiming your gun in an FPS with sweaty hands is not easy. Dipping the sticks in a non-slip coating (Plasti-Dip - use multiple coats) fixed it for me.
They have also changed the placement of the Start and Back buttons. I find the new placement confusing and harder to hit than the original layout, and I wish they had just left that alone. D-pad is also cross-shaped rather than circular, which can be harder to press diagonally.
Quality is not nearly as beautiful as the original controller. It looks adequate but a bit cheap, especially for the usual prices this sells for, and there's no handsome brushed steel big middle button, just a sort of picture of it. There's no shields to keep dust from getting into the mechanisms under the analog sticks, either.
There is a review at IGN which was very helpful, but my version did not have a rubberized surface overall and did not have a hard invert look switch.
Update: AFter a few months, my original microcon developed unbearable drift on the right analog stick. I've replaced it and the new one has done fine for many months so far - but I'm not going to expect it to last forever.

Gets the job done! Sep 16, 2006

First off, Mad Catz does not make long lasting controllers. However, as a back up controller (one used only when a friend plays with you) Mad Catz is more than effective! Assuming you only play with it periodically it should last a good while. The Microcon style makes it feel smaller and more like Nintendo's Gamecube design. A good buy if you need a controller on the quick.

If I had of known about the warranty. Oct 16, 2008
By J. Curry I'm gonna make this quick.
PROS: It's smaller than the official Microsoft controller. The left and right triggers have a longer throw than the Microsoft controller. The D-Pad is far more easier to use. The grip overall is better. Comes in different colors.
CONS: Analog isn't exactly the same as the Microsoft controller's analog stick but you'll get used to it fast. Small size may be too much for some. My left analog stick broke off.
If I had known or paid attention to the lifetime warranty I would have just gotten another one. I really enjoyed using the controller more than the official one. The longer throw on the triggers and the d-pad is what sold me.
That's ok though, Madcatz and Capcom are cooking up a new Sega Saturn inspired control pad for the release of SFIV in 2009. I look forward to that now.
