4It's a hummer with unregulated dc power supply!  Sep 24, 2008
By Space
I have owned this piece of equipment for a period of time. When I first used it with a 9V dc power supply, it had a terribly loud hum. So, I had to use a 9V battery instead to eliminate the hum. Then I decided I needed a 9V dc power supply to get a permanent power source to eliminate the chore and cost of replacing the battery. But, the hum!

First, I started to look for as "http://www.nady.com/mm141_mixer_pg.html" describes it "... or optional PAD-1 AC/DC external adapter." I just couldn't find the PAD-1 for sale anywhere online. I searched and I searched but to no avail. As an alternate solution, I bought a hum eliminator thinking that it will eliminate the hum but it was totally ineffective.

I did further research and found that previously I was using an unregulated power supply which was the source of the hum. My search resulted in finding someone that has a similar mixer with the hum problem and was able to rid the hum by using a regulated and filtered 9V power supply. I bought myself a similar power supply and viola! the hum is gone!!! I supposed I had found the PAD-1.

4Excellent Audio Mixer at a low price  Feb 23, 2006
By Theodore A. Groke
The Nady 4- Channel Mini Mixer performs as expected. I use it to mix the outputs of Mini Disk players, microphones, and laptop comupters. In these applications it performs perfectly. I would have preferred RCA connectors on the inputs so adapters wouldn't be necessary but phono plugs to RCA connectors work just fine.

5Can't hear your inexpensive mic's? Use this.  May 26, 2007
By J. Duncan
Works great for the price.

I'm using it with an inexpensive home karaoke machine. Before this, the only way to hear the mic that came with the machine was to put your lips on it, and even then it was barely audible. A replacement mic (Shure 606) was better, but you still couldn't get it more than about 1" away from your mouth.

Now I can use both mics. I set the really cheap mic to 8, the other one to 5, and now they're both usable and produce the same volume.

4Great for those low-budget projects  Nov 21, 2008
By Jens Trauntvein
Perfect for those looking for a cheap mixer, and definitely one of the best that you can find for the price. The device is actually slightly different than the one that is pictured, but has the same functionality. One thing that you will want to note is that this device is sensitive to electrical noise in the power lines. So if you plan to plug this device into an outlet, you will want to make sure that you have a regulated 9v power supply. The device can also be powered by a 9 volt battery. I would overall recommend this to those that are looking to start a low-budget podcast, or other next-to-nothing funded audio programs.

1Noisy, loss of tone, phase inverts.  Feb 17, 2011
By niwin
This mixer is unusable in any situation where high performance is critical. I wanted to use this mixer as a submix for my keyboards, before sending them off to the PA system. After spending some time playing through the mixer, I found that the signal had picked up noise and also sounded dull and flat.

I checked out the mixer's performance on my spectrum analyzer. The frequency response was not flat. It had a very strong high frequency attenuation, explaining why my keyboards sounded so dull. The unit still picked up noise with a regulated power supply. I also found that the mixer inverts your signal. Generally this isn't much of a concern, but if you ever have a situation where you need to listen to both your source signal and the mixer output at the same time, you will get signal cancellation.

I suppose the performance of this unit is due to the low cost. I would have gladly paid more for a better quality unit.
