 The suckiest flashlight ever Feb 11, 2008

I have a lot of flashlights, I seem to have a thing for them. This one feels good in the hands and looks nice. It has a faceted reflector, which theroretically should allow for very good light pattern control, but the beam from this one, is nothing special.
The main thing that sets it apart from other flash lights, is a blinking red LED. The idea is, you power goes out (or what have you) and the blinking LED lets you find it in the dark. A nice feature. The problem arises, when you go to find your light, and pick it up and find the batteries are dead. A dead flashlight is useless. I have gone through 3 set of batteries in this (2 Energizer D cells each time) and perhaps have used the light for a total of 5 minutes run time.
There is no reason that this has to be this way. The red LED is very small, not particularly bright, and should not draw much current, The fact that it blinks, means the LED is not even on all the time, which should enhance battery life.
I have a three LED flashlight which uses 3 AAA batteries, I left it on for 30 days continuos, and it was still useful, though not as bright. I reasoned from this that if 3 bright white LEDs could burn for a month on AAA's, then this tiny, dim led not even on all the time, should pose no danger to D cell battery life. Obviously, I was wrong.
So, if you are willing to keep this flashlight around without the batteries in it, it would be a 'just ok" flashlight. Of course, you would not be using the one feature you bought it for. I suppose you might use it for camping or something occasional like that, but for me, this light is going in the trash.
By the way, what prompted me to write this review, was finding the batteries dead, yet again.
If I was Energizer, I would have left my name off of this product, and just leave the made in China on it.

I agree with the other review. This flashlight sucks! The beam is not very strong even with new batteries. The new batteries last a RIDICULOUSLY short length of time. For the price I paid for this one horrible flashlight, I bought three at the General Dollar Store for $3.00 a piece, and they work great, with a very bright beam. Do not waste your money on this. I even hate the handle. It is too fat for my hand.

I didn't buy it as a toy! I bought it to replace one that bit the dust after nearly 10 years of use that I had purchased in the camper's section of Walmarts. I liked the blinking light and translucent case as I would be able to find it in the dark, and the price was reasonable. This one does not have a translucent (clear) case and it doesn't hold a charge very long , and that can be pretty agravating when it starts dimming. The initial product purhased seemed to hold charge better. But I still like it. Just have to try to keep spare batteries on hand. I bought 4 of them for family members.

Bought is flashlight myself a few years ago after seeing it solve numerous "issues" at my Momma's bedside table. Was 150% pleased! Nice size to handle, strong beam, stylish colors available and with the ever blinking feature, one can always lay hands on it easily and quickly even in the middle of the night. Second purchase came when my son's family was experiencing power losses due to a severe winter. The Grandgirl's bedroom being on the lower level of house caused a need for assurance to safely get upstairs in darkness and storm excitment. So I bought 2 for the girls and 1 for their Mom. Everyone loved all the features I have already mentioned and will be a constant in their household. This buy was a replacement for my Momma who "loaned" hers out and never got it back... she was less than pleased for she depends on it and is a source of security for poor eyesight and other 86 year old conditions. She was unable to find a replacement and is not a computer person, I made this an opportunity for the perfect "Valentines Gift", well it was red and perfect for occassion, being what she wanted! LOL So hence, this is not considered a TOY in our family but a staple. Batteries last a very long time, it is rugged enough to servive drops, beam is very strong, case is colorful and stylish making it a must for any household. I highly reccommend the Find Me Light and I found this vendors shipping quick and careful.

This is a great product for its intended purpose. I have several around my home and they are invaluable when the power goes off, as it not uncommonly does. I just changed the batteries in one and the old set had been in for two years (I date my batteries). I primarily have these for power failures and rarely use them as common flashlights so their beam is just fine for the purpose of letting me see my way around my home. Their blinking LED helps me find them quickly when I need them. This is a good specific application product, especially where electrical service can be unreliable.
