Good product bad design. May 29, 2007
By Tatiana Coffman I purchased this product to use on my trip to Spain. When I got there I found out that I could not use it because it has a flat back and all the plugs I encountered where round and set in about 1 inch. The prongs could not even reach the outlet. Thankfully someone I was traveling with had an extended for the plug and I could use the adapter with that extender. The adapter worked fine.

Dangerous product!!! May 31, 2008

I purchased 5 of these converters for use in India where the current is 240v. I handed them out to relatives along with mp3 players and phones. They all overheated and one actually melted and the black plastic casing became deformed by morning when plugged in to charge an MP3 player. This product is dangerous, at least for use in Bangalore!!!

Coby CA-55R 50 Watt International Converter Jul 05, 2008
By Aneta S. Andreeva The item cannot be used in Europe alone. It needs an extra unit so it can be used there (particularly France and Eastern Europe). The extra unit must be purchased separately since they send me only the adapter. So bare this in mind if someone wants to use it in these particular areas.

It Worked For Me Nov 04, 2008
By P. T. Baird I recently purchased this item to use on a trip to Egypt. I took it along with a plug extender I already had from a high-wattage Recoton unit I have had for some time. I used it to charge camera batteries, my shaver, and an electric toothbrush in the hotel and on a Nile river boat. The Coby converter worked fine. Nothing melted. Nothing got overly hot. Everything got a proper charge out of it.
