excellent book for pressure cooker users Sep 04, 2005
By Joan Modzelewski
"Berkeley chef"
I was happy to fine that the recepies in the book are easy to use and healthful.
This is a great book for getting me back to cooking with a pressure cooker the way my mother did. The first try was stewed chicken and it was delicious.

Okay for recipes, but lacks basic user information Dec 02, 2007
By Snow White
"The pressure's on...let's cook something!"
I was hoping for more basic information on pressure cooking. Aside from a brief history, a couple paragraphs of simple "how-to's" and a few Q & A's, there is precious little information to help the novice with using this device. Unless you are totally familiar with how to use a pressure cooker, and simply want to add to your recipe book collection, do not get this book. For complete pressure cooker instruction, put your money toward "Pressure Cookers for Dummies"...a much more comprehensive tutorial written in easy to understand language, which makes no assumptions at all regarding the reader's level of knowledge. Pressure Cookers for Dummies helps to eliminate the "trial by error" learning curve. As an added bonus, "Pressure Cookers for Dummies" also has great recipes.
UPDATE: Now that Miss Vickie's Big Book of Pressure Cooking has come out, I recommend that as well. If you can afford only one, Miss Vickie's would be the better choice.

Presto Pressure Cooker Cookbook Oct 15, 2009
By S. Young
"Movie Lover"
This cookbook is really wonderful with it's colored pictures and recipes. Only drawback is that it is mostly for the 6 qt cooker and I wanted to get recipes for the 4 qt. I am a person who can't make changes and need to have precise instruction and that is why I odered this book. They should have printed both. Many times I would find a recipe I liked and it would say "only for the 6 qt".
If you have a 6 qt cooker this book is a must have.

By P. Law Recipes are NOT family friendly.
Eg, who wants to eat "rabbit with stewed prunes??"
I was very disappoionted in the book, and I do not recommend it, especially if you are cooking for children/teens.

Ole time cooker Aug 17, 2010
By musiclady I needed to re-learn how to use a 6 qt pressure cooker that had been setting on my shelf for 20 years! Good book for this; recipes good, as well.
